Scavenger Hunt Sunday...March 25, 2012

Week 2 of my new endeavor proved challenging. I was at a loss finding inspiration at home ~ except for that  "dust" -  and, let's face it, my house dust just isn't photo-worthy!

Whimsy - There were so many beautiful horses on this carousel, but only one had a head protruding from its posterior!

Create - This is an entry in a Quilting competition.  As a non-quilter, I have absolutely no idea how this was quilted but it's gorgeous.  And the First Place ribbon coordinates perfectly!

Dust - This should have been an easy one, but not true! I discovered this rusted bridge off of a main road.  The combination of dusty stones and the rusted, abandoned bridge caught my eye.

Seed or Sprout - It's the time of year where seeds and sprouts are everywhere.  I like how vibrant the green look here. It's such a contrast to the surroundings.

Swing or Drop - This fraulein is swinging away!

Thanks for all of your warm, welcoming comments last week. I enjoy reading each and every one of them...almost as much as I like checking out all of your photos!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday...March 18, 2012

Hello to Ashley Sisk and all of her followers! This involves several "firsts" for me....first time participating in Scavenger Hunt Sunday, first time posting any photos (not counting all of my silly vacation ones on Facebook), first time blogging.  For this, I have to thank my amazingly talented sister, Kathy. Many of you have seen her blog  I promised her I wouldn't say if she is my older sister, but she IS wiser!

1. Vintage ~ I came home from work feeling a little under the weather.  A nice cup of tea was calling my name and also gave me inspiration.  What could be more "vintage" than a cup of tea in my Oma's tea service?  Vintage...and warming for the heart and soul.

2. Word or Quote ~ When I travel, I'm not one for purchasing souveniers for myself.  I prefer to "find" meaningful this "Do Not Disturb" sign.  This one is much prettier than most and it is a daily reminder to myself to think like a Hawaiian and seek peace and tranquility.

3. Nature's Own ~ It's March and it was 73 out.  This is a rarity in the Philadelphia area!  People were everywhere out enjoying the warm sunshine.  Not to be left out, these six little turtles were also sun-bathing.

4. People ~ Again...people everywhere basking in the sunshine.  This young lady was surrounded by toddlers throwing rocks, dogs frolicking, people walking the paths....yet she looks so peaceful.  I was a little jealous.  There isn't much I enjoy more than a good book!

5. Photographer's Choice ~ This was a hard one for me.  How to choose?  I finally decided on this one taken as I was out walking.  Look at his soulful eyes!  He was checking me out as much as I was checking him out.

Thank you all for taking a peek at my multiple of firsts! I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Maluhia ~ Karen
