Scavenger Hunt Sunday...September 9, 2012

Today is my dad's 79th birthday. Ironic that his birthday is during September...World Alzheimer's Month. He's living his "Golden" years while dealing with this crappy disease. We lost my mother in law to Alzheimers this year.  My dad is still here and as his memories and his speech slip away, other facets of him emerge...he's silly, he's demonstrative, he's vulnerable.  So, I celebrated with him on Friday...we laughed, took pictures on my cell phone, watched Gunsmoke and held hands.  It was a great visit that, at least, I will remember.  Happy birthday Dad...I love you!

On to Scavenger Hunt ~
Monochromatic
mon-uh-kroh-mat-ik  adj. of or having one color
Shades of brown

Starts with the letter....
S - for State...as in Penn State, my second home.

Upside down

Hair
OK...I realize this isn't exactly "hair" but if you take a close look, the feather is made up of individual hair-like pieces.  That's good enough for me!

Soft
I was looking through my photos of our summer trip to Denver and came across this one.  It makes me wish I still had little girls to dress up.

Happy Sunday...off you check out your photos.  Linking up to:

  2. It sounds like you had a nice day with your Father and now have wonderful memories of a day shared with him.
Your photos are all great. I especially love the colorful boats and the brightly colored little petticoats, oh how they bring back memories of my baby girl and her pageant days. She was such a little ham, and loved being on stage. (Nothing like the Toddlers and Tiaras).
    Happy Sunday!

  4. Your Dad sounds like a remarkable man. Belated birthday wishes for your father. My mother is gone too, and my father is still with us and is 83 now. Short term memory is questionable at the best of times. I see a bit of him disappearing as time tics away. So I try to make the most of it.

    Peace

  13. Glad you had some quality time with your Dad for his birthday. I do understand how difficult it is to watch as
a loved one slips away. Love that petticoat shot. My daughter wasn't a girlie-girl so I didn't get to dress her up. I do always love looking at the pretty little girl clothes. Hope your upcoming week is as special as you are.

  21. I LOVE your scavenger hunt! Especially the big "S" (We are...). The skirts are beautiful too. The heron (?) is by far my favorite. My mother is 79, also. She falls alot, but her thinking is still fairly sharp. I understand your worry about your dad. It is so special to still have parents to love.

  29. Very nice set.
Starts with the letter S is a great shot.
My favorites though were: Upside Down - So colorful and Soft. Little girls are so fun to dress up in such girly things as those soft little tutus.

  31. Happy birthday to Gramps! The cell phone pictures you sent me were great and he looked so happy to be with you! Although I HATE birds, I really like that monochromatic shot. I obviously love the Penn State one as well. Annnnd I'm super sad you think I'm too old to wear those tutus -- Carrie Bradshaw can wear them; so can I!

  32. oh... the story of your dad mirrors mine. I wrote about my dad today - we lost my dad to Alzheimer's (three years ago... a few days before his 81st bday). It is a crappy disease!
Your UPSIDE DOWN pic is my fave! oh & the tutu's - boy we had a fortune tied up in dance clothes.
